Where possible for low pressure applications, the disk type piston will minimise product volume and will hence generally result in a lighter design. Even for these flat pistons, there is a considerable mass saving by employing the Panacea full enclosure concept. On the outside the coverage is fully metal, whether it is aluminium alloy or stainless steel.

As in the baseline barrel concept, the liners are well supported by the core and have low stress levels. Full integral structure is enabled by a unique manufacturing method and this enables exceptional durability at low weight, whereas all interfaces to gas, rings and piston rod remain unchanged from what you are used to.
