Quick Scans confirm mass reductions

In recent months, several studies have been finished for Panacea Customers throughout the industry. Ever since the launch of the lightweight piston and its presentation at the 2016 EFRC conference, a first milestone would be the confirmation of anticipated mass reduction. Studies for major OEMs were done with an emphasis on rather large pistons, up to almost 30″. Even LNG applications were explored. Central to the feasibility studies lie the questions about thermal behavior, structural integrity under gas/thermal loads and manufacturing.

Results typically indicated 25 to 50% mass reduction even for large pistons.
Prototype demonstration of functionality is the next milestone.
